Guyana and Jamaica clash for group honours today

Guyana and Jamaica will face off in the final game of Group C action in the Caribbean Football Union World Under-20 qualifying competition with the winner of this group advancing to the CONCACAF finals set for early next year.
With both countries having chalked up two wins each but Jamaica ahead on goal difference, a win for either side will catapult them into the Confederation finals while the runner-up of the group will have to compete against the runner-up of two other groups for the final spot.
While the Jamaicans have been very dominant in their two wins, blasting a total of 19 goals and only allowing in one, Guyana too have been holding their own, scoring a total of 8 goals while being scored against once.
Head Coach of the Guyana team Gordon Brathwaite noted that his charges will rise to the occasion against the visitors and deliver for their country.
The performances of Guyana in their two games have not been as convincing as the fans would have liked to see but they have won nonetheless, a solid performance is needed if they are to turn back the challenge of the Jamaicans who have shown that they are a well oiled and balanced unit.
Guyana’s Captain Colin Nelson has proven what he is capable of doing along with the likes of Eon Alleyne,
Telson McKinnon Bevon Moseley, Sheldon Holder, Olvis Mitchell and Marco Marcus, Kevin Beaton, Trayon Bobb among others as they band together to deliver for Guyana.
Jamaica’s challenge will be spearheaded by the dangerous and effective finisher Craig Foster backed up by Devon Williams, Paul Wilson and Allan Ottey among others. The Young Reggae Boyz are fast and play as a cohesive unit but the Guyanese will be aiming to neutralize the visitors as they seek a win.
The opening game this evening which kicks off at 17:00hrs brings together Grenada and the United States Virgin Islands in what is anticipated to be an entertaining battle between two sides going after their first points of the group.
