Ballistic examination done on the UZI 9mm semi-automatic submachine gun, which was found among a cache of arms intercepted on Tuesday September 21 at Adelphi Public Road, Berbice, has revealed that the weapon was used in the robbery/murder committed on May 17, last, at Wellington Park, Corentyne.
During that incident 47-year-old Arjune Gobin, of Bloomfield, Corentyne, was shot and killed and 46-year-old Rajendra Persaud of Number 36 Village, Corentyne, was injured.
On that occasion the perpetrators used sledgehammers to break their way into the targeted property.
It is not too clear if the suspect in whose possession the weapon was found will be charged in connection with the robbery/murder.
