The ball is in the PPP’s court
Dear Editor,
In an effort to change the public’s perception that the regime has evolved from the “vote for your own kind” strategy cultivated by its founders; the new PPP/Civic seemingly finds the PR engagement perpetually daunting.
International opinion that the regime’s lock on it’s 51% constituents are due to inflexible innate loyalty is especially damaging to the party’s claim of having multi-ethnic appeal.
The regime however has an opportunity to swat away the critics who label them an “Indian party” with the appointment of an African Guyanese 2011 presidential candidate.
Leading political image makers have opined that this is the only way for the PPP to unshackle itself from the seemingly cast in dye perception that the regime has not moved past its divisive apan jhat genesis.
Can the party rise to the challenge? The once proud PPP optimist in me says “yes they can”.
The ball is in your court; my PPP comrades- make your move.
