Playing in the Tom Dearman Cup against Whitsable CC in the 40-over English cricket league, Guyana batsman Vishaul Singh scored 137 batting for most the innings.
He opened the batting and got out in the 37th over and his century helped Sandwich Town Cricket Club (STCC) to 262 which they defended to advance to the second round of the competition.
On Monday the club embarked on its annual cricket tour, which was in the county of Sussex. Singh explained that he batted in two games on the tour.
The first one being on Wednesday against Glynde Cricket club who are the National Village champions of England. Glynde CC batted first and scored 242 and STCC replied with 243 in 38 overs, which was largely due to 112 from Singh batting at number 4.
The diminutive left-hander, who made his First-Class debut this year, walked to the crease with the score on 5 for 2 in the 5th over and dominated the opposition attack with calculated stroke-play.
On Thursday Singh made 55 against Hastings Cricket Club in a total of 248 which STCC failed to defend in the last game, to wrap up the tour.
Singh says English cricket is not only aiding his batting but the responsibilities of being independent and the team’s Pro is having a positive effect on his personal development in his third season in English Cricket.
The GCC players has his sights set on retaining his Guyana place for the 2011 Regional season which is scheduled to commence in January.
