Mayor’s Cup Coordinator, former national footballer and coach, Lennox Arthur, expects a humdinger of a final when the Guyana Defence Force collide with a resurgent Santos in the final of the tournament tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground, Bourda.
Arthur was talking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday and informed that systems are in place for a wonderful evening of football.
He indicated that efforts have been made to ensure the comfort of the fans by having additional seating at the venue and also Lennox Cush has provided additional lighting for the venue so patrons will get an enhanced view of the proceedings.
On the action, the former outstanding national player stated that action opens as early as 5:30pm with an exhibition encounter between East Bank teams Timehri Panthers and Grove Hi Tech.
This will be followed by the third place playoff at 6:45pm between Rhythm Squad and Fruta Conquerors.
The final kicks off at 8:30pm between GDF and Santos.
Arthur pointed that the Army has a good following and many of their fans are expected to show up and root for their team. On the other hand, he said that Santos have got good support from the country teams and they have shown resurgence under Coach Denzil Thompson, a former national goalkeeper.
