The level of entertainment is high but it seems as though this year’s Mayor’s Cup Football competition has been beset by adverse weather conditions and a number of other problems that has resulted in several postponements.
Just when it seemed as though the organizers have surpassed the various obstacles, another has arisen forcing a further rescheduling to the fixtures of the tournament. The competition is now in its quarter-final stages and the action resumes on Sunday May 16 with an exciting quarter-finals double header between Santos and Seawall FC in the opening match at 18:00hrs followed by BK International Western Tigers opposing Fruta Conquerors at 20:00hrs
The action continues on Sunday May 23 when Riddim Squad tackle the GDF in the first semi-final match while the respective winners of the Santos/Seawall and Western Tigers/Conquerors affairs will duke it out for a finals berth.
On Sunday May 30 the competition progresses to the third place playoff starting at 18:00hrs followed by the championship match at 20:00hrs. Executive coordinator of the tournament, Lennox Arthur wishes to apologize to the many fans that may have been affected by the postponements.
However, he has promised that the action in the remaining matches would compensate for the disappointments.
