Blackman also presented current President of the Union Christopher ‘Kit’ Nascimento with a similar accolade for his dedication to the sport.
Blackman in his comments stated that he recognised during the last National Awards Ceremony that the women were not acknowledged for their accomplishments over the years and felt it was a glaring oversight and it was his duty to duly recognise them for their efforts.
“I decided to contact the President of the Union and inform him of my intentions and he immediately gave his approval, adding that it was a very good gesture,” Blackman said.
He indicated that it was his hope that the girls see it as additional motivation to continue to dominate at the regional level.
