Oscar Shew Memorial TT Tourney set for this weekend
The Oscar Shew Memorial Mini-Cadet, Cadet, Junior and Youth Knockout Table Tennis Tournament is scheduled for this weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, according to a Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) release yesterday.
“The GTTA and National Sports Commission, in its effort to promote table tennis countrywide, will be coordinating a knockout table tennis tournament involving Mini- Cadet, Cadet, Junior and Youth Players,” the release stated.
Oscar Shew passed away in February 1999 and in fitting tribute his son, sports enthusiast Munniram Persaud decided to hold a table tennis tournament in his honour. Shew was a charter member of the South Georgetown Lions Club.
