Richmond Youths and Henrietta United recorded victories as the North Essequibo U-19 50 overs cricket competition continued recently in the Cinderella County.
At Anna Regina, Richmond Youths overcame Young Warriors by 44 runs. Richmond Youths took first strike and managed 177 before they were all out in 43.2 overs. Keron Narine top scored with 43 and Amant Kowshaldeo supported with 35 as Jonathan Gopaul grabbed 4-41 and Quanzo Success 3-43.
Young Warriors in reply were bowled out for 133 in 37.1 overs. Jason Persaud led with 45 while Success returned to hit 24. Kowshaldeo snared 5-37 and Sydney Peters 2-42 for the victors. The game was reduced to 45 overs.
At Richmond, Henrietta United defeated Anna Regina Youths by 47 runs. Henrietta batted first and made 154 all out in 39.2 overs. Christopher Blucher was their leading run getter with 40 while Mark Tyrell contributed 30.
Tameshwar Dhanpaul and Manuraj Mohan bagged three wickets each for Anna Regina Youths who ere skittled out 107 in 22 overs. Extras top scored with 30 while Dhanpaul made 25.
Tyrell showed his allround ability by picking up 4-22 and Dexter Williams grabbed 3-29 for the winners. The competition continues on Saturday.
