Do not be hoodwinked by this miscreant Mr. Commissioner

I refer to an article appearing in last Sunday’s edition of the Kaiteur News captioned, “Residents write Top Cop on Sergeant’s conduct”.
I am a resident of the Grove area for about 40 years and cannot sit idly by and allow the degenerate of society to berate an outstanding officer of the Guyana Police Force.
I can safely say that from the time the Sergeant took over the station there has been considerable reduction in crime in the area and great improvement in response by the police.
I have read the article and have an idea of the identity of the person that is trying to discredit the Sergeant.
In past times this individual was referred to as the ‘Village Lawyer.” He would give direction to the police officers as to what action to take in any given matter and to whom a particular file must be sent. This behaviour was condoned by previous Sergeants, but came to a head when they did not do as he requested.
I am convinced that this resident is angry because of the fact that he cannot in the same way manipulate the current Sergeant.
After trying numerous tactics he resorted to taking private action against the Sergeant for damage to the door of a building for which he could not prove ownership.
This case was dismissed by the Courts. This man was so powerful in the area it seems as though he had an office at the Police Station, however, since this Sergeant took office I was made to understand that he was told not to visit the Station unless he has a complaint or was summoned for any reason; for this he is still very angry.
Regarding the alleged assault of two ranks, what clearly was not mentioned was the fact that the rank in question – fired shots in the air and subsequently raised a loaded rifle to shoot the Sergeant after he tried to intervene in that matter.
My hope is that the Commissioner of Police delve into and thoroughly investigate this matter and not be led by this miscreant of society, who becomes disgruntled when he is faced with strong officers that are willing to uphold the integrity of the Guyana Police Force. These Officers need the support of administration so that law and order can be maintained.
