It was a day of excitement for 17 children from the Drop-in-centre, Hadfield Street, Georgetown, when they were afforded a day of shopping and fun at the William Fogarty’s Store, yesterday.
Their experience was funded by Alliance of Guyanese Expatriates (AGE) through which the 17 boys and girls each received $5,000 in Fogarty’s gift certificates. The venture was also supported by the store and the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central.
With their chaperones and managers of Fogarty’s, the children were able to tour the store and made their purchases which included readywear, confectioneries and stationery.
After the shopping, they were hosted at a luncheon at the store.
The programme included a welcome address by the Executive Director, Vibert Parvatan of Laparkan Group, who wished the children a pleasant and memorable visit.
Mrs. Waveney Weekes on behalf of AGE, extended greetings and good wishes from the members of United States based body.
Keith Williams speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central reminisced on his childhood days shopping at Fogarty’s, riding the horse, weighing on the scale and riding the elevator.
