The Government of Guyana has given its ‘no objections’ to a number of contracts in the social and security sectors of Guyana, at a total cost of $306.8 million.
At his post Cabinet media briefing held on Thursday, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, said that a total of $77.7 million will be used for the construction of the Sand Creek Secondary School, South Central Rupununi in Region Nine.
Additionally, Cabinet gave its no objections to the purchase of text books to the tune of US$93,620 (G$18.7M). In the security sector, a total of $69.8 million was allocated for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the Guyana Police Force.
Meanwhile, in the local government sector, Cabinet did not object to funding for the construction of market tarmacs in Diamond, East Bank Demerara, Enmore East Coast Demerara and in Best/ Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
Each of these tarmacs will be constructed a cost of $24.4M, $29.1M and $29.9M respectively.
In the health sector, glucometer strips for the National Laboratories will be procured at the tune of $33.3 million, while $23.9M will be spent on the supply of materials and works for the rehabilitation of the filters at the GWI shelter belt location.
