Douglas contributes to basketball in Tiger Bay

Says it is the first of many more to come

Former Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) President Chris Douglas is adamant that basketball needs corporate support if it is to rise to prominence after he gave a ball to the Tiger Bay community yesterday.
Douglas said that the ball was just a “seed sown” since his plan is to also refurbish boards and hand over nets to the officials that manage the court in Tiger Bay. Corporate support cannot be withheld from the sport he believes.
“I came into the community and I saw that they had no ball and the one that they had was burst up and so on, so I decided to get a ball for them. This is not the end because I will be making a very strong input soon” Douglas said.
The former GABA head informed that he has intentions to transform the backboard in the community and also construct a lighting facility.
He said that the state of Burnham Court grieves him and the current GABA needs to perform.
“I told Trevor Rose (current GABA President) that he needs to find a sponsor to fix Burnham Court because it is becoming an eye sore. I am sad at how they got it (Burnham Court) with toilets and all that,” Douglas indicated.
He believes that those are the little things that make a big difference with how the sport is viewed and received.
His message was that he wants “to let them know that he loves the game and Chris Douglas will be back (in administration)”.
