Unidentified female accident victim dies
The woman who was badly injured in a motorcycle accident in Regent Street last Saturday has died without regaining consciousness.
Hospital sources said that the unidentified woman succumbed at around 01:30 hrs yesterday in the Georgetown Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to reports, the woman was being towed by Adrian Henry, 34, of South Sophia at around 21:30 hrs on Saturday when the motorcycle they were on collided with a car.
The woman suffered multiple injuries while Henry sustained a broken left leg and abrasions. Kaieteur News understands that Henry had told hospital staff that he did not know the woman, and that he picked her up in the vicinity of the High Court.
On Monday, Michael Marcus, the driver, appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to failing to have enforced third party insurance; driving without a valid driver’s licence, and using the vehicle without the owner’s permission.
It was determined that Marcus had the right-of-way, and thus he was not responsible for the accident, because the motorcycle came directly into his path.
Marcus was given an alternative of a $55,000 fine or face prison time.
