Leading Fireman, Jermaine Abraham directs his hose to the fire.
Firemen early yesterday morning responded to a call from concerned citizens and quelled a fire just outside the St Barnabas Anglican Church, Regent Street and Orange Walk, Stabroek.
Persons in close proximity to the fire opined that it was lit by drug addicts who frequent the area.
After the conflagration that flattened the Ministry of Health, merely two weeks ago, the firemen were not prepared to take chances. They arrived on the scene in record time and quickly got into action.
Led by leading fireman Jermaine Abraham, the fire fighters spent some thirty minutes at the task. The building in closest proximity to the fire was the Anglican church, one of the more ancient structures on Regent Street.
Maybe it is a far fetched notion but the quick response of the fire fighters may have saved another historic structure from going up in flames.
