A female vendor and a male friend were injured around 20:00 hrs on Saturday after a speeding car crashed into a roadside confectionary stand near Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
Latoya Thompson, 25, of Plantain Walk, Poudroyen, sustained a broken leg, while the male victim, identified only as Stephan, was knocked unconscious.
The driver of the car, who was not identified, also suffered minor injuries.
They were all treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Thompson was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Residents claim this driver caused the mishap
According to reports, Thompson was sitting at her confectionary stand, when a driver veered off the roadway and slammed into a parked car before hitting her and knocking over her stand.
Stephan, who was standing near her, was also injured.
Residents denied claims by the driver that he was beaten at the scene of the accident.
