Hira spearheads Lusignan to 42- run win against UG

On the back of pugnacious batting from Harrinarine Hira, Lusignan beat University of Guyana (UG) by 42 runs as action in the Demerara zone of the 2008 National Gafoor’s 20/20 first division cricket competition resumed on Friday after a break for the rainy season.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lusignan scored 160-9 in their 20 overs.
Batting for Lusignan Harrinarine Hira top scored with 72 with four sixes and six fours and got support from Vishnu Ramjeet, who hit 34 with two sixes and two fours.
Steve Rekheram had 3-22 off four overs and Godfrey Thakurdin 3-19 off four overs for UG who were restricted to 118-7 with Godfrey Thakurdin scoring 22, Danny Seepersaud 32 and Uthen Munroe 25. Bowling for Lusignan, Hardeo Sattaur captured 3-16 and Prakash Ganpat 2-17.
