With the 19th Kashif and Shanghai (K&S) football tournament set to start this Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden, Director of the organisation Kashif Muhammad says that the rain would not be a challenge for them, since it has always been an ingredient in the tournament over the years.
The Ministry of Agriculture Hydrometerological Service has forecasted more rain for the Christmas Season which is projected to be active with above average rainfall amounts with periodic heavy downpours, Muhammad says they are not worried as the rain is an act of God and they have no control over that.
“We are aware that rain usually falls during this period but we are confident that it will not affect the tournament but enhance it by keeping the grounds moist which would encourage good football.”
Players and clubs he said would have to monitor the weather also and equip themselves accordingly with the right footwear since this is a knockout tournament and no second chances available to correct any mistakes.
Muhammad also said that the National Stadium at Providence which will host matches on Christmas and New Years day is equipped for any weather and has proven that it is one of the fastest drying grounds in the world.
Meanwhile, the K&S organisation is reminding students in Linden that the three thousand tickets they presented the Ministry there is to be used on the opening day, Sunday while the Bakewell sponsored tickets which amounts to six thousand for schools in region four are for Christmas Day at the Stadium.
