Fierce battles have been the order of the day in the inaugural Guinness ‘Greatest of De Street’ Football which has taken the City by storm as seen on this photo.

In results from the last night of preliminary round play, Plaisance (Kevin Richards) and East Front Road (Andy Duke) battled to a 1-1 tie in the feature clash.
A Linden Simmons double guided North Last Entrance to a 2-1 win over Kitty who got their lone strike from Wendell St Hill.
Bent Street failed to show up for their clash against Charlotte Street, Allan Kennedy’s 7th minute effort was all that was needed for Back Circle to defeat Tucville Big Yard. East La-Penitence needled Queens Street Tiger Bay; Trevor Griffith netted the 9th minute.
Albouystown mauled Broad Street A 3-0. The players rocking the nets were Andrew Murray (5), Delon Small (7) and Devon Booker (8).
Albert Street Alberttown recorded a come from behind 2-1 win over Meadow Brook Square, Elliott Bourne in the 8th and Maxwell Dyer one minute later tucking in the winners goals, while Meadow Brook had taken the lead with a Julian Harry’s 5th minute strike.
Also recording a 2-1 win was West Back Road (Eusi Phillips & Jermaine Thom) over Norton Street Wortmanville (George Softleigh).
The 16 teams advancing to the knockout stage which starts tomorrow will all be in action, losers will go home, winners moving on. Tomorrow’s matches will be contested at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.
Sophia battle Globe Yard, North Last Entrance match skills with Plaisance, Leopold Street face Front Road West Ruimveldt, Back Circle oppose East Front Road, Hope Street Tiger Bay engage Festival City, Albouystown match skills with Queen Street Tiger Bay, Alexander Village tests Alexander Street with the feature match bringing together East La Penitence and Norton Street Werk-en-rust.
A total of 32 teams, divided into eight groups of four started the tournament, the first of its kind in Guyana, organised by the Georgetown Football Association in association with Banks DIH Limited and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport.
