The Venezuelan Government continued to stretch out a hand of goodwill to important Guyanese institutions when the ambassador of that country His Excellency Dario Morandy, handed over sports gears and other apparel to two local clubs and a news agency.
Yvette Herod collected on behalf of ‘Toucan 2,’ a multipurpose club of the Buxton/Friendship area. She received a fax machine and a water dispenser among other apparel, while Eugene Noel who collected on behalf of the Guyana News Agency, received several pieces of communication equipment inclusive of tripods microphone and strip connecters among other items.
Boxers from the Ricola Boxing Gym in Agricola were the beneficiaries of headgears, mini dumbbells, boxing gloves and center balls among other gears.
Ambassador Morandy explained that the Embassy was responding to a plea for assistance made sometime ago by representatives of the three entities. He said that his government felt an obligation to assist.
The ambassador also lauded the work of the Toucan organization in its bid to contribute to the lives of young people.
In response, Eugene Noel thanked the ambassador, on behalf of his group while Yvette Herod and Mark Benschop echoed similar sentiments on behalf of Toucan 2 and Ricola Boxing Gym, respectively.
