As the West Indies cricketers embark on nine months of non-stop international action, cricket lovers will obviously need clarifications and other information related to their favourite teams and players.
National Communications Network (NCN), in collaboration with television producer and host, Edwin Seeraj, being cognizant of this need, have recommenced the popular Cricket Info and Quiz segment. The programme will be aired during the lunch break of each day’s play and will continue for the duration of the West Indies international engagements.
The Guyana Lottery Commission and Digicel are the sponsors of the programme whose main thrust is to educate and entertain viewers on the intricacies of the game. Viewers may also interact with guests on the programme by way of telephone calls and receive lucrative prizes for correct answers given.
These prizes include shirts, caps, radios, lottery tickets, confectionary items, hampers and cellular phone credits, among others.
The prize-giving segment will climax on the final day of the England series, on April 3, with a special draw. Viewers can also procure valuable historical facts of the accomplishments of international cricket stars since each programme will also profile one such person.
The West Indies are currently involved in a three match, one-day international series against Pakistan, the beginning of nine months of intense competition against other international teams like New Zealand and England.
The season consists of 46 days of exciting cricket action which include 6 test matches, 13 one day internationals and three 20/20 games.
