What Sharon Willis first mistook for the sound of something breaking was actually the sound of a bullet piercing the roof of her Lot 497 North East La Penitence home.
The incident happened at around 23:00 hrs on Saturday night, leaving Willis and her family puzzled as to whether they were the unintended victims of a drive-by attack.
Willis said that she retired to bed, at around 21:00hrs, leaving her two children watching television, but was aroused by the sound of something shattering.
The woman said that she immediately went outside to see what her children had broken.
In turn, the children asked their mother what she had broken in her room.
Upon closer inspection of the premises, the occupants were shocked to find that a bullet had pierced their cabinet and had shattered some dishes.
According to Willis, the bullet had first pierced her roof.
Willis revealed that her eldest son and some neighbours had caught a thief earlier in the evening, and she speculated that the culprit may have discharged a firearm at her house.
She also speculated that the incident might have been a drive-by shooting.
According to the woman, police ranks came at around 14:15 hrs yesterday afternoon, and commenced their investigations.
