Butts, Gray to lead teamsWest Indies Captain Claudius Butts and Sabola Gray will lead the Guyana Men and Women teams at NAWIRA Sevens Rugby World Cup Qualifiers to be played from October 25-26 in the Bahamas.
The release also added that the Coaches will be (Men) Sherlock Solomon and (Women) Alton Agard, while Canadian Spencer Robinson will act as Technical Director and Robin Roberts as Manager.
The Men’s team is: Claudius Butts (Captain), Richard Staglon (Vice-Captain), Albert La Rose, Dane Parks, Dwayne Schroeder, Peabo Hamilton, Rupert Giles, Ryan George, Satish Samaroo, Theodore Henry, Troy Arjoon and Troy Bascom. The standbys are: Elwin Chase and Jason Tyrell.
The women will be: Sabola Gray (Captain), Carrin Carter (Vice-Captain), Andrea Lashley, Careem Skeete, Collette Hope, Grace Jarvis, Latoya Hamilton, Maureese Skeete, Nikita Davis, Shennel Daniels and Trisha Munroe.
The Guyana Men’s team are the defending Caribbean champions, but are seeded third behind the USA and Canada respectively.
They open up against St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while the women will play Bermuda. (Rawle Welch)
