Bandits attack Chinese restaurant
– owner beaten
The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 20:30 hours on Saturday at Gordon Restaurant, Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, during which the owner Liu Zhu Quing, 49 and his wife were attacked and robbed by four men, three of whom were armed with handguns.
According to the police at the time there was no electrical power to the area and the four men entered the restaurant and held the couple at gunpoint.
They then searched the business place and took away a total of $400,000.00 from a drawer and a container.
During the incident, Liu Zhu Quing was struck several times about the body with the butt of the firearms.
The perpetrators then escaped on foot.
The injured restaurant owner was treated at a city hospital and sent away.
