Mr. Singh’s ramblings were not convincing
DEAR EDITOR,
Jang B. Singh joined the discussion on Dr Cheddi Jagan’s legacy. He attempted to use some very vague references to question if Dr Jagan’s legacy is alive and well.
I want to assure Mr. Singh that his ramblings were not convincing. Quite to the contrary, Western societies could care less about the poor.
Perhaps he should provide the evidence rather than just his simplistic conclusion. Being emotional about Dr Jagan’s “lean and clean” pronouncements also does not support Mr. Singh’s conclusions. His other utterances do not warrant a response.
Mr. Singh tells us that he served for less than one dollar a year at one of the missions. I wish he had demonstrated some compassion for the poor as he referred to in his letter.
As the officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who processes Mr. Singh’s appointment, I know that Mr. Singh’s package was many times “less than a dollar”.
Mr. Singh reminds us that “I had a conversation with Dr Jagan and Prime Minister Hinds…I participated in the Freedom House Seminar…I was asked to speak on corruption…I remember making the point…” This is vintage Mr. Singh, a good dose of ego at work. By the way, no one seems to recall the seminar.
