New Goodwill Swimming Team Champions Suriname and dethroned champs Trinidad and Tobago shared the individual honours with Barbados also featuring when the curtains came down on the 14th Annual event on Sunday afternoon at the Castellani Pool, Homestretch Avenue.
Surinamese 15-17 female Chandel Domaso who broke 2 records during the meet was the best among her peers, totaling 80 points the most by any swimmer during the meet. The male award was taken by the Twin Island Republic’s Walter Romany with 60 points.
Suriname made a clean sweep of the 13-14 age group with Haneef Amatngalim (59 points) taking the boys crown and Faye Schuitmaker (56 points) the girls title.
The other individual title the Surinamese won went to 11-12 girl Soraya Van Dijk who accumulated 49 points.
T&T’s Johnathan Gonsalves was the top 11-12 boy with 54 points, his countryman Jabari Baptiste was the best among the 9-10 with a similar amount of points, while countrywoman Arielle Downes and Barbadian Tiffany Titus were the joint best performers in the 8 & under category with 37 points each.
Closing out the individual awards were Bajans 8 & under boy Damon St. Prix (47 points) and 9-10 girl Inayah Sherry with 54 points beating Suriname’s Brienne Renfurm by a single point.
The dominant Surinamese ended the championships with 141 medals made up of 60 Gold 41 Silver and 40 Bronze. T&T totaled 121 overall (40 Gold 51 Silver 30 Bronze).
Barbados 45 overall (12 Gold 12 Silver 21 Bronze) while host team Guyana raked in 29 medals, 2 Gold 6 Silver and 21 Bronze. Following is the breakdown of the Team, men and women medal haul.
