For several months the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been losing computers to theft and the staff may have finally caught the culprit.
Early Tuesday morning, police caught a thief in the ceiling of the Ministry’s building on South Road.
Initially, investigators were of the opinion that the computers were being removed by unscrupulous staff members since they found no signs of forced entry.
But on Tuesday at about 1:30 hours, the suspect had already disconnected a number of computers with a view to removing them when the time was right.
According to reports, a security guard at the Ministry saw the thief crawling along the floor.
The guard then left, unknown to the thief, and summoned the police.
After searching for several minutes the police located the thief in the ceiling.
He was promptly arrested and is likely to face charges.
Police are investigating if the same suspect was responsible for the theft of several computers that went missing over the past few months.
