Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) will run off a two-month training programme for beginners during the months of July and August in an effort to attract new players to the sport locally.
Training sessions will be held twice weekly on Wednesday and Friday starting at 16:30 hours at the Lusignan Golf Club on the East Coast of Demerara.
Club captain Patrick Prashad disclosed that this programme is for adults who are interested in playing golf. The programme is a new initiative of the newly formed Development committee of the LGC headed by vice president Brian Hackett and includes Ian Gouveia and Club President Mel Sankies.
Interested persons can register at the Lusignan Golf Club at telephone number 220-5660. The deadline for registration is June 25 and the programme is free.
Last year the Club in collaboration with the Reds Perreira Sports Foundation and Banks DIH had organised a Junior Development programme.
Meanwhile, the stage is set for today’s pre-Father’s Day Medal Play golf tournament sponsored Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) at the Course at Lusignan.
More than 30 golfers are expected to participate in the tournament in recognition of Father’s Day being observed tomorrow.

Representatives of GT&T will be on hand to assist in the distribution of prizes at the end of the tournament.
Tee off is 12:30 hours. However, there will be a briefing ten minutes before the official tee off.
