(Kaieteur News) – A Corentyne business establishment was reportedly broken into and relieved of a large sum of cash over by bandits, police in Region Six have confirmed.
Target Logistics Inc., a shipping and logistics company headquartered in Georgetown, reportedly had a sum of $1.3 million stolen from its Williamsburg Village, Corentyne, branch in Berbice.
According to information gathered by this publication, the robbery is believed to have happened between Saturday and Monday.
Police disclosed that the business was secured on Saturday afternoon after the day’s operations were completed, and the earnings from sales were reportedly left inside the building.
On Monday, the supervisor went to open up the facility for the day’s business, but observed that three louvre panes were removed from a window and a portion of the steel grill pried open.
Further observations would reveal a door also opened. A check was then made for a container in which monies were placed, but same was discovered missing.

According to police investigating the matter, only the money was removed, despite several computers, brand-new cellular phones and other items of value being inside the building.
The one-flat property is reinforced with multiple steel doors and further secured with two padlocks. It is also outfitted with several CCTV camera around. Investigators canvassed the area for CCTV footage and identified several cameras, including cameras at the business. The footage obtained is expected to be reviewed as part of the investigation.
The intruders supposedly entered the building through the window and exited through the western door.
Multiple individuals have since been questioned, while statements are being taken. Investigations are ongoing.
