(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Under-17 team continued its impressive run in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Youth Ensemble competition for Elite League clubs, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Western Tigers FC at the Tucville ground.
GDF produced another disciplined performance in the double-header fixture, with Daymotrien Budhan, Brandon Parks and Raven Vancooten each finding the back of the net to extend the team’s unbeaten run in the competition.
After a cagey opening period, Budhan broke the deadlock in the 20th minute to give GDF a crucial 1-0 lead. Parks doubled the advantage five minutes later, capitalising on his side’s attacking momentum to put the soldiers firmly in control at 2-0.
Vancooten added further gloss to the scoreline with a 42nd-minute strike, leaving Western Tigers with a mountain to climb. GDF maintained its advantage until the final whistle, sealing a comfortable three-goal victory.
Earlier in the double-header, Santos FC overcame Police FC 4-2, with junior jags player Aaron Vasconcellas netting twice in a productive attacking display.
Santos made a blistering start, with Alex Bentick opening the scoring in the second minute before Vasconcellas extended the lead in the 13th to put his side 2-0 ahead.

Aaron Vasconcellas stars with double as Santos FC topples Police FC in Elite League Youth Ensemble, also scoring in the 4-2 victory were Alex Bentick and Casmir Thomas.
Police responded through Tyrese Johnson, who pulled one back in the 22nd minute to reduce the deficit to 2-1. However, Santos restored its two-goal cushion when Vasconcellas struck again in the 31st minute, completing his brace.
Thomas then found the net in the 36th minute to push Santos further ahead at 4-1, leaving Police with a difficult task in the closing stages.
Johnson added his second goal of the contest later in the second half, but it proved insufficient to spark a comeback as Santos held on for a 4-2 victory.
GDF’s continued unbeaten run and Santos’ important win underscored the competitive nature of the GFF Youth Ensemble programme, which provides a platform for Elite League clubs to showcase their Under-17 talent while competing for national honours.
