(Kaieteur News) – The race for spots into the business phase of the 13th annual Courts Optical Pee Wee Boy’s Under-11 Football Tournament intensifies today when Round Three action unfolds at the Ministry of Education ground.
After two rounds of competitive football, the tournament has produced its share of exciting encounters, closely fought matches and results that have left several groups delicately poised.
With only the top two teams from each group advancing, today’s matches will determine the fate of a number of schools, while others will enter the final round of the preliminary phase knowing that every goal could prove critical.

Round III action decides the sixteen schools that will advance to the 2026 Pee Wee Football round-of -16-phase
Among the teams currently sitting comfortably on six points are Santa Rosa Primary, West Ruimveldt Primary, Waramuri Primary, St Gabriel’s Primary, Georgetown International Academy 1st Team and defending champions Leonora Primary. Their strong starts have placed them in favourable positions, but with the battle for qualification still unfolding, there is little room for complacency.
For several other schools, however, the mathematics is far less forgiving.
Round Two highlighted just how competitive the tournament has become, with a number of matches ending in draws and leaving teams separated by narrow margins. With goal difference likely to play a role in deciding who progresses, the pressure will be firmly on attacking units to convert opportunities while defenders seek to keep their opponents at bay.
Nine matches are scheduled for today, setting the stage for a packed day of U11 football.
Agatash Primary and Pakuri Primary will open proceedings, with both teams eyeing a valuable three points that could strengthen their chances of finishing among the top two.
In match #32, Colaaco Primary will face St John the Baptist Primary, with the latter entering the contest knowing that a victory could strengthen its push for second place. St John the Baptist has already collected a win and loss, losing to St Pius last weekend.
Also, at 12:00 hours, Belladrum Primary and Soesdyke Primary will meet before Georgetown International Academy‘B’ faces St Aloysius Primary.
One of the day’s most anticipated encounters will see defending champions Leonora Primary come up against a strong St Gabriel’s Primary, with both schools sitting on six points each.
Pakuri Primary however, will return to action later in the day against Redeemer Primary, another closely matched contest. Redeemer already has a victory over Goed Fortuin Primary and a draw against Agatashunder its belt, will be looking to add another important result.
Agatash Primary will play for a second time today when they come up against Goed Fortuin Primary, with the possibility of strengthening its position and challenging for second place.
F.E. Pollard Primaryfaces a stern test against an in-form West Ruimveldt Unit, while Marian Academy will seek to maintain its perfect start when it battles Georgetown International Academy 1st Team at 15:00 hours.
With only 16 schools to advance from the preliminary stage, Round Three represents a crucial turning point in the competition.
For some, qualification is within reach. For others, today represents the final opportunity to keep their championship ambitions alive.
The Courts Optical Pee Wee Under-11 Football Tournament is sponsored by Courts Optical, with additional support from Sterling Products Limited, Igloo Ice Cream, MVP Sports, SkyTec Enterprise Inc. and the National Sports Commission. The tournament is approved by the Ministry of Education.
