Bartica man held with cannabis during police patrol
(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division Seven have arrested a 27-year-old Bartica resident after allegedly finding 12.4 grams of suspected cannabis during a patrol in the mining town early Sunday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 3:50 a.m. on July 19 while ranks were conducting routine patrols in Bartica. They reportedly observed the man, of Second Avenue, behaving in a disorderly manner and warned him to desist.

Police said he ignored the warning and continued his disorderly behaviour, prompting his arrest and escort to the Bartica Police Station.
A search of a black haversack he was carrying allegedly uncovered a white plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspected cannabis was weighed in the man’s presence and amounted to 12.4 grams before being lodged as evidence.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
