Trump loses again… but only for the moment

(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh it was just announced that the U.S. Supreme Court, in one of them legal twists that make Trump’s lawyers rub their heads and reach for aspirin, has reaffirmed birthright citizenship. In other words, if you born on American soil, you American—no ifs, no buts, no “check again tomorrow.”
And dem boys seh this is a serious setback for Trump, who been trying all kinds of creative gymnastics to bend that rule like it’s made of warm wire. But the Supreme Court basically tell him, “Hold it right there, bossman, law is law—even if you wear red tie and shout loud.”
Now dem boys already predicting what comes next, because if there is one thing Trump does better than golf (and that debate still open), is finding new ways to fight old battles. So don’t be surprised if he move from “no birthright citizenship” to “no pregnant women tourism programme.”
Yes, dem boys seh it now: a new policy might be coming where immigration officers start asking, “Madam, you look like you 32 weeks pregnant… purpose of visit? Shopping? Tourism? Or strategic delivery operations?” And some airport might even get extra seating: “Pregnancy Screening Lounge—please remove belts, shoes, and due dates.”
Guyanese people, of course, watching this with special interest. Plenty already know the famous “holiday trip strategy”—go America for vacation, come back with souvenir baby, plus passport that stronger than black cake at Christmas.
So, when Trump was making noise about stopping birthright citizenship, whole lot of aunties in Georgetown nearly drop their phone in panic. But dem boys seh the Supreme Court decision basically tell him: “You can build wall, you can build rhetoric, but you can’t build your way around the constitution.
Still, knowing Trump, dem boys wouldn’t be surprised if next week he propose something new like: “Only babies born above sea level of 10,000 feet qualify,” or “citizenship only valid if both parents can name three U.S. states without hesitation.”
At the end of the day, dem boys seh this is just another episode in the long-running series: ‘As the Court Turns and Trump Returns with Another Plan.’ And season finale? Nobody betting on that just yet.
