CAL goes daily on Guyana-Toronto route
…as demand surges; non-stop flights to begin July 1
(Kaieteur News) – Caribbean Airlines will introduce daily non-stop flights between Georgetown and Toronto from 1st July, 2026, a move the airline says is aimed at meeting rising travel demand between Guyana and Canada and strengthening economic and family ties between the two countries.
The announcement was made in a media release issued on Tuesday from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
According to the airline, the expanded schedule comes as travel between Guyana and Canada continues to grow, fueled by increased business activity, tourism and visits by members of the Guyanese diaspora living in Canada.

The new arrangement will see Flight BW 616 depart Georgetown daily at 9:20 a.m. for Toronto, while Flight BW 617 will leave Toronto daily at 4:50 p.m. for Georgetown.
Caribbean Airlines said the additional flights will provide passengers with greater flexibility during the peak summer travel season while increasing the number of available seats on the route.
Acting Chief Executive Officer, Varma Khillawan, described Guyana as one of the airline’s most important and fastest-growing markets.
“Guyana remains one of the airline’s most important and fastest-growing markets. The introduction of daily Toronto to Georgetown flights reflects our commitment to meeting customer demand and strengthening connectivity between Guyana and North America,” Khillawan said.
He added that whether passengers are travelling for business, leisure, education or to reconnect with relatives, the enhanced schedule will offer greater convenience throughout the summer and beyond.
The airline also noted that the move supports Guyana’s continuing economic expansion and its growing international profile, while making travel easier for thousands of Guyanese residing in Canada.
Over the past several years, Guyana has experienced a significant increase in air travel demand, driven largely by rapid economic growth, the expanding oil and gas sector and increased movement by investors, professionals and members of the diaspora.
Caribbean Airlines said it will continue investing in its route network and fleet to provide reliable services and seamless connections throughout the Caribbean, North America and South America.
Passengers can book flights through the Caribbean Airlines website, mobile app, reservations call centre, ticket offices and authorised travel agents.

BW 616: Georgetown (GEO) to Toronto (YYZ) – 9:20 a.m. daily
BW 617: Toronto (YYZ) to Georgetown (GEO) – 4:50 p.m. daily
