(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced the reinstatement of national cricketer Kevin Sinclair’s Central Retainer Contract, providing the talented all-rounder with another opportunity to rebuild his career following a period of disciplinary challenges.
Sinclair was previously removed from the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad and subsequently had his Central Retainer Contract terminated by the GCB as a consequence of serious disciplinary breaches.

The GCB and Kevin Sinclair have put issues behind them with the ex-WI/Guyana Harpy Eagles all-rounder signing his new Central Retainer Contract yesterday.
However, recognising both his exceptional cricketing ability and the importance of rehabilitation, the GCB, through the direct intervention of its President, Mr. Bissoondyal Singh, initiated a structured process aimed at addressing the underlying concerns and facilitating Sinclair’s professional reintegration.
In May 2026, President Singh engaged the services of psychologist Dr. Wil Campbell to provide professional guidance, assessment and intervention as part of the Board’s commitment to a more progressive and holistic approach to player management and development.
Dr Campbell subsequently conducted several professional sessions with Sinclair, which formed the foundation for a broader reintegration process involving key stakeholders within Guyana’s cricketing structure.
As part of this structured reintegration process, Dr. Campbell conducted consultations with the entire Guyana Harpy Eagles management team, including team captain Tevin Imlach. Further engagements were held with GCB Cricket Operations Manager, Mr. Anthony D’Andrade, along with the entire GCB Technical Team and Staff. Separate consultations were also convened with the GCB Selection Panel, headed by former West Indies batting great Ramnaresh Sarwan.

These engagements formed an integral part of the comprehensive reintegration process, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders were involved in fostering an environment of accountability, discipline, mutual respect and professional support, while preparing Sinclair for his return to competitive cricket.
Following extensive discussions with Dr. Campbell, Sinclair and the relevant stakeholders, President Singh expressed his conviction that the young cricketer deserves another opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to the game and rebuild his professional career.
“Kevin Sinclair is an exceptionally talented young cricketer who has already demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level. While discipline and accountability must never be compromised, I firmly believe that young people who encounter difficulties must also be given an opportunity to learn, mature and redeem themselves,” President Singh stated.
“Our responsibility as administrators extends beyond identifying and developing cricketing talent. We must also be prepared to provide guidance, mentorship and professional support when our players face challenges. Kevin has been given another opportunity, and I intend to work closely with him to ensure that he makes the best possible use of it.”
President Singh further expressed confidence in Sinclair’s cricketing future.
“I have tremendous faith in Kevin’s natural talent, ability and skills. With the right attitude, discipline, dedication and continued professional guidance, I believe he possesses everything necessary to once again establish himself among the leading cricketers in world cricket. The opportunity is now before him, and it is his responsibility to embrace it.”
The GCB President also placed on record his appreciation for the significant role played by Chairman of Selectors Ramnaresh Sarwan, whose involvement, advice and support were instrumental in facilitating the reinstatement of Sinclair’s contract.
“I wish to particularly acknowledge Mr. Ramnaresh Sarwan for the important role he played throughout this process. His experience, understanding of the demands of international cricket and willingness to contribute positively were invaluable in helping us arrive at this decision,” Singh added.
Sinclair, for his part, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Guyana Cricket Board, particularly President Bissoondyal Singh, for affording him a second opportunity to rebuild his cricketing career. He acknowledged the support and professional guidance extended to him throughout the reintegration process and expressed his appreciation to all those who contributed towards his return.
Sinclair also reaffirmed his commitment to embracing this opportunity with renewed discipline, dedication and professionalism, while working towards regaining the confidence of the Board, his teammates and the wider cricketing community.
The GCB also expressed its appreciation to Dr. Wil Campbell, the Guyana Harpy Eagles management team, Cricket Operations Manager Anthony D’Andrade, the GCB Technical Team and Staff, and all those who participated constructively in the reintegration process.
