Kaieteur Sports – Archery Guyana continues to demonstrate resilience and steady progress on the international stage, following a demanding day of qualification rounds held under intense heat conditions on April 15, 2026 in Panama City, Panama at the South American Youth Games.
Competing on a sweltering range, athletes faced extreme temperatures that tested both physical endurance and mental focus. Despite these harsh conditions and reports of multiple cases of heat-related distress across the field, Guyana’s archers remained composed and delivered commendable performances.
The team now advances to the highly anticipated elimination rounds scheduled for this (Friday) morning.
In the compound division, Guyana’s Ravish Singh will face a strong opponent from Colombia in what promises to be a competitive matchup. Meanwhile, in the recurve category, Brandon Cummings will represent Guyana against Paraguay as he looks to secure progression to the next stage. Accompanying the Archers is Guyana’s Head Coach Mr. Ryan McKinnon.
Archery Guyana extends sincere appreciation to President Munroe and the Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Association for their continued leadership, support, and commitment to the development of the sport.
As Archery Guyana continues its upward trajectory, these performances underscore the nation’s growing competitiveness and determination on the global stage.
