(Kaieteur News) – PAS Cargo Guyana has become the first cargo company to have a certified Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) off-site office in the country.
At the company’s recent launch of its facility located at Rome, Heroes’ Highway, Vice President Shridath Naraine said that with its convenient location, the facility is offering secure access, alongside spacious maneuverability for all the heavy trucking.
“We have on site a GRA certified office which I believe is the first of its kind in the country,” Naraine announced.
“Over the years, we have built a reputation as a savvy and capable cargo consolidate and grown into a leading freight and logistics provider, proudly holding a premier position in the market, with a strong reputation in LCL, which is less than container load shipping and commercial cargo consolidation. Pascal Ghana distinguished itself through this strong focus on commercial LCL cargo, air cargo and local logistics. PAS Cargo Guyana today offers weekly air and ocean cargo from the USA, from Panama, from Trinidad,” Naraine explained.
The company handles cargo globally, and as a member of two major groups covers over 9000 individual shipping companies, in 190 countries. Poised to serve Guyana not just from trade, PAS Cargo is also aiming to put Guyana on the worldwide stage in logistics.
“A key part of our success has been the strength of our U.S. operation, where PAS Cargo USA has made continuous investments in infrastructure and capabilities to better serve our customers. You’ve seen, if those of you came already, would have seen some video running with the U.S. operations. It’s quite impressive,”
he said.
Further, the Vice President noted that the company is committed to technology through innovations in its “logistics platform, from using barcode processing, RFID tracking, where we enhance efficiency, transparency and communications the trust and loyalty of a growing customer base. Our core software logistics platform is called momentum and was developed by a talented Guyanese team at V 75 some of you may know who they are.”
In keeping with evolving technology and artificial intelligence, the company will be launching a mobile app. This will allow customers to access the entire platform from their devices, where they will be able to track their cargo, give instructions and upload documents amongst other important features.
“This is a game changer in our industry. More importantly, this is a statement, a statement that Guyana deserves, deserves world class infrastructure, a statement that local talent, innovation and vision can compete at the highest level, and a statement that as PAS Cargo, 100% Guyanese, own company is here not just to participate in this market, but to help lead it forward,” he added.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary Thandi McAllister who attended the ceremony said that the opening of the facility is testament to the ongoing work the private and public sectors are engaging in to strengthen the country’s shipping and aviation infrastructure.
She referenced improving regulatory frameworks and creating an enabling environment for investment.
“…as the government continues to invest in our ports, airports and road networks, partnerships with companies like PAS Cargo is essential to ensuring that these investments translate into real benefits for our economy and our people. This facility stands as a landmark achievement in national trade development, as the first commercial offsite customs facility, approved by the GRA, it represents a pivotal shift in how supply chains and logistics operations will function in our country,” McAllister added.
