(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh one fella walk into a barber shop fuh a simple “line-up.” He ain’t go in fuh no full works—no fade, no design, no fancy name haircut like “executive shadow blend.” Just a lil clean-up round de edges. Something quick, neat, respectable. Or so he thought.
When de barber done and spin de chair round like he unveiling a masterpiece, de man ask how much. Barber cool like breeze seh, “$2,500.”
Well, suh de man nearly fall off de chair he just pay fuh sit in.
He start protest like he campaigning fuh office. “$2,500 fuh WHAT? Dis ain’t line-up—dis is mess-up! Yuh line ain’t even line up!”
Dem boys seh he even pull out a mirror and start point to he forehead like a surveyor marking disputed territory. “Look here! Dis side going east, dis side going west. Yuh call dis alignment?”
One man in de shop watching de whole drama buss out laughing and seh, “Bai, with de size of yuh head, yuh shoulda pay double! Is more surface area de barber got fuh cover!”
Well, that didn’t help matters. De man get more vex. But de barber stand firm—no discount, no sympathy. Cash only, argument free.
Now dem boys seh, truth be told, $2,500 fuh a line-up sound steep. But these days if yuh walk into one of dem “prime” barber shops with air condition colder than the Ice House and music louder than a minibus, yuh looking at $3,000 just fuh them to ask, “How yuh want it?”
Guyana is an oil economy now, and it look like even yuh hairline catching Brent crude prices. Every snip got a surcharge.
So dem boys advising: before yuh park yuhself in any barber chair, ask de price first. Ask twice if yuh hard of hearing. Because when de barber done, not only yuh head gon feel lighter—yuh pocket gon feel like it just go through budget cuts.
And remember: in today’s economy, even a crooked line-up could come with a straight price.
Talk half. Leff half.

(Kaieteur News) – There was a time when things were used as they were intended. A fork for eating and a bed for sleeping.
