Guyana’s Judases-the second set

(Kaieteur News) – ‘We stand with the Guyanese people.’ Nothing could be better. If only it were so. ‘We will fight for all citizens.’ When anyone, just one, encounters such a battler, introduce me. Whether Antarctica or Guyana, politicians possess common connections. For the people. Of the people. By the people. Sweet, inspiring songs, those are. So, why people from Timbuktu to Takutu are in the same dreadful, destitute conditions that they are? Somebody failed them. Politicians.

Some set of local figures holding themselves out as leaders, warriors, and gamechangers betrayed them. There they are -Guyanese politicians. The many who talk a good game of caring for the Guyanese people, of working for them, but who have sold them out, just like Judas did to Jesus. A mostly rotted bunch, who say they are brothers and sisters, only to turnout as demented champions stabbing in the back.

How does one group of Guyanese politicians’ progress from blasting an enslaving document to sleeping with it? It’s Judas Syndrome. Why can’t other sets of Guyanese politicians speak straight, take tough stances, and fight for all citizens of this Republic, so that they get the best from their inheritance? Because when the Judas bug bites, it is about oneself. When incentives are dangled, like Judas, they yield. All the power in the world can be at the fingertips. Who’s gonna know? Grab it. When temptations crawl on snaky feet, with many riches suddenly easy to grasp, better to clasp the millions, and find a nice cover story to fool the people.

Who is it? Is it I, Lord? The one who dips his hand in the same bowl, eats at my table, just exposed himself. There’s the betrayer. Have Guyanese politicians not traveled many long miles, beat the bushes, scale barbwire to wheedle their way into the confidence of trusting citizens, then sell them out? They get into their communities, get into their hearts. They promise to fix everything. Promise to do everything in their power, to do more to manage better from light bill to light, sweet crude. Only for those who believed them to discover they’re all for themselves. Always were, always will be. It was the way of the first Judas. Look sharply at them, how they pretend at innocence, while engaging in their sleazy bargaining under the cover of dark. Can’t talk about wealth. Not saying more.

Who are better talkers in this country than Guyana’s politicians? Who are bigger betrayers in Guyana than most local politicians? Who among this brood of politicians, save for rare exceptions, have not collected their reward (like Judas) and betrayed the Guyanese people? Then sweetened by opportunity extended by men in high places with big plans for Guyana, have not repeated their sellouts and betrayals of this country and its citizens to exploiters? The men who hold all the cards, who control who is in and who is out. (They are coming up next). Is it I, Lord? Bet yuh bottam dollah that it is you, meh brother!

These are the men and women, who display compassion for the poor. Jesus: tell Mary that the perfume she poured on the head (his) is a waste of expensive fragrance, the cash saved could do so much for the needy. Have we, the people of Guyana, not heard politicians in the local environment say words like those? The same traitorous politicians that many still would put their necks on a block for, play that game, though they (pols) are not-so-secret-betrayers, callous rogues, who carry on in that same manner?

Whatever has to be done, do it quickly, was the counsel given. Judas did. His Guyanese descendants do their dirty deeds swiftly and repeatedly. A deal here, a handshake with that one. Some in the city, some in the jungles. When Judas took the 30 pieces of silver, he knew that he gave licence to the high priests and elders to seize his testicles, as part of the bargain. Now there is no turning back, no returning of the blood money, the silver of the devil. For confirmation, revisit the words of Malcolm X when he was at his irresistible, majestic, best. Judas lives in Guyana. A whole flock that negotiates and collaborates like he did. Guyana is now the epitome of Judas country.

Malcolm X was a Muslim Brother!! What’s the relevance of Judas & him unless you want to ‘big up’ yourself as usual that you believe in Malcolm X!!!
Why scrape around looking for all little ‘nitty-gritties’ OF ‘IRRITANTS’ to make a mountain of a mole hill!!!
From my perspective you’re damaging the image of the Kaieteur News and could result in loss of readership also!!!
It would be advisable for you to read the Chronicle or Guyana Times in order for you to have your writings/columns be a bit ‘objective’ instead of daily sheer nonsense!!
BTW. Judas was guided by God to fulfil the prophecy of the sacrifice/crucifixion/ ascension of Jesus Christ!!! With him subsequently repenting by giving back the coins and committing suicide/hang himself!!
If your analogy is correct would the government officials who you described as Judases hand over the ‘loot’ & kill themselves???
