(Kaieteur News) – The body of an unidentified male was discovered in the Demerara River at Kingston, Georgetown, on Saturday morning.
According to a report from the Guyana Police Force, the discovery was made around 10:40hrs behind the Marriott Hotel. The deceased is believed to be of African descent and in his early teens.
Preliminary reports indicate that individuals walking along the jetty at the Kingston Seawall raised an alarm after spotting the body floating in the river.
The body was subsequently retrieved and officially pronounced dead by a doctor. An examination revealed no visible marks of violence.
The body has since been transported to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, for identification and a post-mortem examination.
