Kaieteur Sports – Play continued with the Region 4, East Bank Demerara zone of the MCYS NSC 11 Edition Janet Jagan & Cheddi Jagan Memorial school girls & boys Windball Cricket played at the National Gymnasium. The tournament is organised by Sports Officer A. Munroe and competition in the Janet Jagan Memorial Girls segment show defending National champions Yarrowkabra Secondary School come back to win their game despite losing quick wickets in the first over with the bowler on a hat-trick.
Camille’s Academy after been invited to take first strike made 69-1, with Samera Mohammed 24 and Sueann Baboolall 14.
Yarrowkabra Secondary reached their target losing 2 wickets at 74-2, off 3 overs. Makayla Mendonza led with 28 and Luana Williams 24. Bowling for Cammile’s Academy Kyra Bruce took 2- 22 initially putting Yarrowkabra under pressure in the first over.
Diamond Secondary School scored 31- 4, with Leondra Joseph 10. Kyra Bruce 2-4 & Sueann Baboolall 2-7 led the bowling for Camille’s Academy who replied with 35-0 off 2.1 overs. Sameera Mohammed top scored with 26.
Over in the Cheddi Jagan Memorial Boys competition, Camille’s Academy after electing to take first strike, scored 65-1, Yuvraj Bhogwhandin 35 and Darwin La Rose 16 were the top batters.
Diamond Secondary School were restricted to 60-1 in reply, after needed eight runs off the final over, Nazeem Persaud 20, Paul McTunic 17 topped their batting efforts.
Play is scheduled for Region 6 today, Saturday March 28, at the Port Mourant Community Centre (the death anniversary date of Janet Jagan).
