Kaieteur Sports – As if to say this is my turf, Mapa Do Brasil of the J’s Racing Stables again took the feature event when the Kennard Memorial Turf Club held its Phagwah Horserace meet.

After winning the feature event at the last meet held at the venue, the feature event dubbed the Metro stakes and sponsored by the Metro Stationary and Office supplies saw the company doling out over $4M.
The animal showed class as it beat the field and raced away with the $2M first prize and Metro Cup in the grueling 9 furlongs event.
Ridden by champion jockey Ronald Appadhu, the animal bid its time perfectly and as the animals hit the turn heading into the homestretch, Jockey Appadhu began to give the animal full reign. Mapa Do Brasil moved forward and after a brief tussle with front runner Grande Rainha, Mapa Do Brasil surged away to win easily in the end to bring glory to owner Jermain Shripaul and team.
Grande Rainha ran an impressive second ahead of Stormy Victory with Companheiro Lea finishing fourth.
The F class event saw Frontline Warrior of the Jagdeo Racing stable with Jockey Michael Semple on the perch accelerating down the homestretch to take the top money and trophy from Stolen Money, while Full Liberty was curtailed finishing third.
The event for three-year-old Guyana-bred maiden horses saw Manisha of the Raj stable winning easily as Miracle Boy, Granite Storm and Glory Queen had nothing to shout about. Settling for the next three spots.

Here Comes Heidi of the Biso Racing Stable had nothing to hide as it dominated the field to win the event for H Class horses. Finishing down the order were Amicable Kate followed by Mulan with Sydney fourth.
The Colin Elcock Stable was in winner’s row in the K class event. Republican with Appadhu in the stirrups was merciless down the homestretch for a comfortable victory. Sakar battled for second ahead of Regal Surprise with Heartland fourth.
The race for J class horses saw Top Gun shooting to front to take the winners reward as the likes of Hayley, Bin Laden and Three D Movie settled for the next three positions.
It was a perfect run for Perfect Trip of the Amarnauth Mahaicony Racing stable as it whipped the field to run away with the L class maiden race. The others playing catch up for the next three spots were Top Rankin, Citation and Catch the Cat.
The top jockey was Renaldo Appadhu. He and other outstanding performers were presented with accolades, compliments of the Trophy Stall and the Club.
A large crowd was on hand at the prestigious KMTC venue. The incident-free day of racing was staged using the rules of the KMTC.
