Kaieteur Sports – On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) formally appointed its Disciplinary Committee and designated legal representatives. These appointments underscore the Federation’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and governance within the sport.
The newly formed committee comprises five distinguished professionals from the legal and fitness sectors:
Anastasia Sanford-Fredricks, Attorney-at-Law – Chairperson
Justice Nigel Niles
Gabriel A. A. Benn, Attorney-at-Law
Julio Sinclair – Co-owner, High Energy Fitness Zone Gym
Alejandra Vieira – Co-owner, High Energy Fitness Zone Gym
The Disciplinary Committee (DC) is established to uphold sportsmanship, the Athletes’ Code of Conduct, and the international standards set by the IFBB. A core priority of the committee is ensuring strict compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) protocols.
The DC’s primary responsibilities include:
Enforcement: Ensuring all members, athletes, and officials adhere to the competitive standards established for national trials and sanctioned events.
Sanctioning: Determining fair and proportionate penalties for infractions, ranging from formal warnings and fines to temporary suspensions or lifetime bans.
The GBBFF Disciplinary Committee operates under the fundamental principles of natural justice. Central to its function is the Right to a Hearing, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to present their case and provide evidence before any final determination is made.
In addition to her leadership role on the committee, Anastasia Sanford-Fredricks has been appointed as the Official Legal Representative for the GBBFF. In this capacity, she will oversee all legal matters and professional standards involving the Federation’s domestic and international interests.
