Zion Hickerson earned 2nd place in the boy’s division at the recently concluded Casely International Tennis Championship in Florida.
Kaieteur Sports – At his last international tournament, Casely International Tennis in Florida, Zion Hickerson earned a runner up place. Locally, he won the U12 category at the Rebel Tennis Club Anniversary Tournament. He defeated Olufemi Cuffy 4/0,4/0 and Michael Fordyce 4-0 5-3 in the group phase. In the semifinal, he overcame Yoshua Mangru 4-1 4-1 while in the final he outlasted Hayden Chan 4-1 4-2.
In the same week, he defeated Joshua Peter to win the U11 Boys Annual Mashramani Table tennis competition. Due to schedule clash, he was unable to participate in U13 & U 15 divisions. The youth athlete who attends St. Gabriel’s Primary is currently preparing for the upcoming National Grade Six Exams.
