Diamond Secondary School claimed the title at the 2026 Secondary Schools Goodwood and R&T Taxi Tapeball Cricket Competition.
Kaieteur Sports – Diamond Secondary School claimed the title at the 2026 Secondary Schools Tapeball Cricket Competition, sponsored by Goodwood Racing Service and R&T Taxi Service. The event took place over the weekend at the National Park tarmac.
A vocal crowd, including several parents, most notably mothers, turned out in support of their boys, celebrating International Women’s Day through this exciting tapeball competition, the most attractive school cricket event in the country.
Organisers were thrilled with the massive turnout, which saw participation from numerous schools. The competition eventually narrowed down to a thrilling Super 8’s stage, where Annandale Secondary delivered impressive performances, dominating Bishops High. Campbellville Secondary had their own plans, defeating Christ Church Secondary decisively. Diamond Secondary then returned to the field, completing their mission by convincingly beating Veed-en-Hoop Secondary to advance to the final. Patenia on the other hand, mirrored Diamond’s performance, beating West Demerara Secondary to a pulp to ascend to the ultimate challenge, the grand finale.
In the final, Diamond Secondary batted first, scoring 42 for 3 in their allotted overs. Vikash Roopnarine contributed 16 runs, while Kevin Mahase took 2 wickets for 19 runs. In response, Patentia Secondary managed only 33 for 6, resulting in another tapeball title for Diamond Secondary. Shazad Ally was the only batter to show resilience, scoring 12 runs in the chase. Ravin Singh was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs and helping restrict Patentia to just nine runs in the final moments.
Ravin Singh’s outstanding performance earned him the Best Bowler and Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, while Vikash Roopnarine received the Best Batsman trophy for his top scoring in the final.
Looking ahead, the school boys’ league for the Mike’s Pharmacy Trophy continues on Saturday, March 28th, 2026.
