Kaieteur Sports – A number of sponsors have joined forces with the Kennard Memorial Turf Club and more to come for that entity’s Phagwah Horserace meet set for Sunday 15th March.
Over 50 horses have already taken entry for the big event planned for Club’s Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice facilities.
Among the sponsors so far are Metro Stationary and Office Supplies, Trophy Stall, Mrs. Chan Kennard and Family, New Building Society, Sylvie’s Variety Store, Torginol Paint and Annirude Ramcharitar among others.
There are seven races on the day’s programme with over $9M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
The Metro Stakes worth over $4M has been put forward by the Metro Stationary and Office Supplies for the feature event. A grueling 9 furlong is the distance which will see the winning horse and stable taking home a hefty $2M and the prestigious Metro Cup.
Other events on the day the F class race over 7 furlongs. The H class event, over 7 furlongs. There is a race for Three years old Guyana bred maiden horses over 6 furlongs.
A 7 furlong contest is scheduled for J class horses. The K class and lower gallop is over 6 Furlongs. The final event will be a matchup for L class maiden horses over 6 furlongs.
The Trophy Stall, compliments of Managing Director Ramesh Sunich, will be providing incentives including trophies for champion Jockey and the runner up, top trainer and stables.
The event will be staged using the rules of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club.
