(Kaieteur News) – Relatives of 28-year-old Trelon Frank believes he may have died by electrocution after visible burn marks were discovered on his body following his death in Sophia on Monday.
Frank’s mother, Nicola Christian of Lot 172 Levi Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, told this publication that burns to her son’s hands and back strongly suggest he suffered an electric shock.
Though a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the official cause of death on Wednesday, the grieving mother said the condition of his body points to electrocution.
At her Berbice home, Christian recounted her final conversation with her son, which she said was a brief exchange.
“He text me and I asked him Saturday, I said, ‘yuh coming for the Mash?’ he said, ‘yes, but I ain’t really telling yuh if ah gon’ come. If yuh see ah come, yuh see me.’ And after then, I ain’t hear back nothing from him.”
That would be the last time she heard from him.
Frank, a security guard who had relocated to ‘E’ Field, Sophia, approximately five years ago, was the fourth of eight children. Family members said he had been working in the security sector for about five months prior to his death.
At precisely 9:52 a.m. on Monday, Christian received a phone call from her elder sister.
“I was at home the morning, then I got a phone call by a big sister of mine. She called me on the landline and asked me when last I see my two sons. I said, ‘Trelon working in town, he doing security…’ she said, ‘he got shock, he died,’” Christian recalled.
Frank reportedly lived alone and kept much of his personal affairs private. His mother said she was unaware of any recent issues involving him. However, his father later mentioned hearing that someone had been chasing him following a reported confrontation with a man in Georgetown.
Despite that, relatives maintain there were no visible signs of a physical assault. Jewelry and cash found on his person remained intact, effectively ruling out robbery as a motive.
Authorities are expected to conduct a post-mortem examination to officially determine the cause of death.
