Kaieteur Sports – Thirty secondary schools are set to compete in the Georgetown Office Assistant Promotion Committee (GOAPC) Tapeball Cricket Competition, which bowls off at the National Park Tarmac on Sunday, January 25 and runs through to February 1 to determine its champion.
The tournament will mark the first Boys’ Secondary School cricket competition for the 2026 season and is expected to showcase some of the country’s top young cricketing talent.

Among the participating schools are St Stanislaus College, The Bishops’ High School, St Joseph High, Tutorial High, St Roses High, North Georgetown Secondary, Richard Ishmael Secondary, St George’s High, Charlestown Secondary, Christ Church Secondary, Tucville Secondary, School of the Nations, LBI Secondary, Cummings Lodge Secondary, Patentia Secondary, West Demerara Secondary, Leonora Secondary, Zeeburg Secondary, Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary, Yarrowkabra Secondary, St John’s College, and Hope Secondary, along with several others.
Matches will get underway daily from 9:00 a.m., with a wide range of prizes up for grabs. The grand final is scheduled for February 1 and will be hosted at the National Cultural Centre.
As excitement builds ahead of the opening matches, Trophy Stall has come on board as a major sponsor of the tournament. Recently, Trophy Stall’s Yamona Rajpaul officially handed over the first-place trophy to event coordinator James “Uprising” Lewis, Head of the GOAPC, at the company’s South Road location, as the leading trophy store makes stronger efforts to promote Youth development across Guyana.
The GOAPC Tapeball Cricket Competition aims to promote youth development, sportsmanship, and competitive cricket at the secondary school level.
