(Kaieteur News) – Six persons were arrested and a black and silver Taurus pistol discovered during a late-night operation at Three Miles, Wisroc, Linden, on Tuesday, the Guyana Police Force has stated.
The police said the operation occurred between 19:00hrs and 23:30hrs, and was in connection to a viral social media video involving wanted man Jamal Bourne, also called “Skinny.”
“Acting on information received, ranks from Regional Divisions #3 and #10 proceeded to the area where a search was conducted at a wooden structure situated in dense vegetation. During the search, a black and silver Taurus pistol with its serial number filed off was found concealed under a mattress, along with six live .32 rounds of ammunition,” police added.
Upon conducting further searches a heap of burnt material was discovered in close distance to the wooden structure. This resulted in forensic experts being deployed to the area, in order to have further examinations and searches done to determine the material’s origin and nature.
There were six persons at the location at the time, all of whom were arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged.
The six in police custody are an 18-year-old male farmer of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke–Linden Highway, an 18-year-old female of Bell West Housing Scheme, WBD, a 20-year-old male labourer of Beaver Street, North Ruimveldt, a 20-year-old male of Kaneville, EBD, a 21-year-old female of Samatta Point, Grove, EBD and a 26-year-old male farmer of Church Street, Georgetown.
The police said additional information will be provided as it becomes available. Investigations are ongoing.
