(Kaieteur News) – A 34-year-old female manager was on Sunday robbed of $642,000 on Smyth Street, Georgetown.
An investigation has been launched into the matter which police said occurred around 21:58hrs and involved a restaurant establishment located at the address.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the manager of West Ruimveldt, had collected the daily sales from the restaurant and placed the cash into a bag. As she entered her motor car, which was parked in front of the establishment, she was approached by an unidentified male who opened the driver’s side door, pointed a handgun at her and relieved her of a quantity of cash amounting to $642,000 Guyana currency before fleeing the scene on foot, police said.
The CCTV cameras in the area were identified and video footage will be reviewed. Several persons were contacted and questioned. The suspect is presently being sought as investigations continue, the force added.
